Genetic Variability, Heritability and Genetic Advance in Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Keywords:
Agronomic traits, genotypic variation, phenotypic variability
Abstract
Genetic variability is important for crop improvement. This study aimed to determine genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for yield and other agronomic traits of bread wheat. Each experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block with three replications. The analysis of variance showed significant variation among the genotypes for all tested characters. Genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) were highest for number of spikes per m2 and plant height. High heritability was recorded on plant height and 1000 – grain weight
