Use of Cox Regression Model to Study Factors Affecting Under-Five Mortality in Sudan: A case study River Nile state (2021-2024)

Abstract

This study aims to use the Cox^’s Regression Model for analysis of demographic, biological, economic, social, and health factors affecting the deaths of children under the age of five. To achieve that goal, afield survey was conducted using a questionnaire distributed to families that have children under the age of five, and the sample was distributed to the localities of the River Nile State using the class sample style, and the descriptive and tested curriculum was followed in data processing using SPSS version 25to reach the results of the study .and  the study concluded that the Cox’s Regression Model of estimated study data is morally and represents the Data well. And that factors (place of residence, spacing between births, the mother^’s access to healthcare during pregnancy, the child^’s birth weight, the household^’s inability to meet basic needs, parental consanguinity, source of drinking water, and the availability of adequate healthcare services to protect child health. Other important factors are the surrounding environment (such as environmental health conditions), improvements in children^’s health status, governmental policies aimed at reducing child mortality rates, and the role of non-governmental organizations in improving children^’s health .The study recommended educating for pregnant mothers about periodic follow-up during pregnancy and childbirth, It also work to improve and promote services that affect children’s health and avoid marriage of relatives as much as possible and the importance of registering children’s death at the time of their occurrence in registration centers.
